New Year – One Month In, 5 Revelations

by Cindy on January 27, 2010

Well, here we are almost a month into the new year already!  Did you make New Year’s Resolutions?  Chances are if you did, you probably have already abandoned more than half of them and the other half are on their way.

I don’t usually don’t make resolutions but this year I had revelations.  This method has been much more successful to date for me – what do you think?

1.  Smoking – I had been smoking for many years, kept me calm, gave me something to do when I was thinking of ideas.  Well, I had a revelation when I came down with bronchitis just after Christmas – I don’t want to smoke anymore, I don’t want to spend this kind of money any longer!  So on January 3rd, I had my last cigarette.

Can’t say I feel any better, yet – because I still have the bronchitis but I know I have already saved money.

2. Plans – I had been working on plans for an event that was going to be great, put quite a bit of time and effort into it.  Normally, I would have been somewhat manic about it’s success; not saying I quit but I did have a revelation that I did not have complete control over this one.  That revelation lead me to number 3.

3.  Control – Although I do admit I like to have control over what I do and plan; finally I have realized I don’t always!  This is a big one for me – it has taken quite a few years of disappointment for me to come to terms with one.  But I do feel better, calmer you might say.

4. Happiness – I am the master of my happiness regardless of what happens in my life.  2009 brought about a lot of changes in my personal and professional life most of which I thought were major contributors to my happiness.  But as the year came to a close and 2010 began I had a revelation – I am happy most all of the time and those things have either changed dramatically are not even a part of my life any longer.  I am the master of my happiness.

5. Partnerships – I have always done things pretty much on my own.  Yes, I am married and I don’t count that in what I am talking about here.  My business, I have ideas, some great ideas but I had a revelation – I can’t do it all!  So, I have begun working on a partnership with a great friend and fellow VA.  We complement each other – I am organized, a planner – she is techy and knows how to do what we come up with.  2010 will be a great year for us.  Watch for our business announcements.

How are your resolutions  coming?  Has the new year brought you any revelations?  As a Virtual Assistant I can help you to realize those revelations in both your personal and professional life, let’s talk.
